Sep 18-20 2026

We are excited for you to come and join us.
September 18–20 | Bar W Lodge | Morgan, Utah
We are so excited to share this space with you. This year’s retreat marks a new chapter for our sangha — the Bar W Lodge in Morgan Valley is a stunning 10,000 sq ft rustic lodge nestled against the Wasatch Mountains along the Weber River, and we can’t wait to experience it together.
Accommodations
The lodge sleeps up to 50 guests across six large rooms, each with four beds and a private bathroom. For couples, queen and king beds are available — please indicate this when you register so we can arrange accordingly. Unlike previous years, tent camping is not available at this location, so all retreatants will be staying in the lodge.
You will need to bring your own bedding, pillow, and blanket. September nights in Morgan Valley drop into the mid-40s, so plan accordingly.
Meals
All meals will be prepared by our temple cook and shared in Noble Silence. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions at the time of registration.
Noble Quieter
Once the formal retreat begins Friday evening, retreatants agree to limit talking solely to necessary speech — during discussion groups or when asking a question. Noble Silence is a form of mindfulness itself. The pervasive stillness it creates serves as a foundation for meditation practice and cultivates deep listening and intimacy within the sangha. This will be the most challenging of all practices,
Silence at a Premium
Practice all activities as quietly as possible. Open and close doors gently and mindfully. Meals will be shared in silence — please eat quietly.
Practice Bowing
Bow before and after each sitting meditation, each Dharma talk, and before and after each meal as an expression of gratitude and humility. Bow slightly when entering or leaving the sanctuary.
Volunteer Opportunities
Working is a mindfulness activity. As Shunryu Suzuki taught, meditation and work are the same thing. Volunteer sign-up will be available soon.
Becoming a Buddhist
If you are considering the Ti Sarana Ceremony and officially taking refuge, please reach out as soon as possible. For those participating, please have any visitors arrive no later than 12:00 PM on Sunday, and bring a stone or rock to represent your life before the Dharma.
